D3.5 - Optimising existing supplier planning and real-time shipments

The NexTrust intermodal pilot case by Arcese in particular is demonstrating the high potential of enhancements through collaboration for real time freight execution.

The question was to find the appropriate collaboration business model for a supplier network which has a contractual relationship with more than thousands small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). These contracted SME’s are involved in the daily execution of freight shipments for Arcese in a safe and reliable way.

The main goals of the NexTrust Intermodal Demonstrator were the following:

• How to optimise the supplier planning and real-time shipment of Full-truckloads (FTL) across Europe through the innovative approach of trusted collaboration?
• How technically to collaborate horizontally with more than 1000 carriers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to make intermodal freight transportation more competitive and attractive?
